Last weekend RMU faced off against College Hockey America member Syracuse. The Colonials and the Orange spilt the series with RMU winning Friday evening’s contest, 2-1 before Syracuse won the rematch on Saturday, 4-3. On Friday, netminder Kristen DiCiocco led the Colonial defensive effort W, 6-2 with 31-saves. The senior registered game-high saves in both conetests. Sophomore forward Rebecca W, 3-2 (OT) Vint scored one goal and passed out three assists in the series to led the RMU offensive effort. RMU is W, 7-1 currently ranked third in the CHA with six points and a 3-1-0 conference record. W, 4-1

Series vs. Mercyhurst
Last season RMU earned its first program win over conference powerhouse Mercyhurst. The Colonials registered a 2-2-1 record last year against the Lakers which includes the CHA Tournament Championship victory. The CHA Tournament Championship was RMU’s first ever and broke Mercyhurst’s nine year streak as CHA Tournament Champions. Forward Thea Imbrogno scored three goals and passed out four assists in the five games against Mercyhurst last season. Rebecca Vint scored one goal and registered six assists last year against the Lakers. Goaltender Kristen DiCiocoo notched 150 saves in the five games while registering a record of 2-2.
Scouting Mercyhurst
The Lakers have only one loss so far this season against No. 5 Clarkson. Junior forward Christine Bestland leads Mercyhurst with 39 points, 13 goals and 26 assists. She has scored five power play goals and four game-winning goals. Bestland has taken home three CHA Player of the Week honors. Freshman forward Emily Janiga ranks second in points with 24, 11 goals and 13 assists. Janiga has earned two CHA Rookie of the Week awards. The Lakers defense is led by sophomore Molly Byrne. Byrne has scored seven goals and passed out 15 assists. Both goaltenders, Stephani Ciampa and Amanda Makela have seen ample time in net with Ciampa playing 538 minutes and Makela playing 424 minutes. Ciampa has stopped 164 shots to registered a .948 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average. Makela has registered 299 saves to tally a .912 save percentage and a 1.84 goals against average. Combined, both goalies have only given up 22 goals so far this season.
