THE GAME The Robert Morris University Colonials (8-3) return from their longest break of the season by traveling halfway across Allegheny County to take on their local-rival, the Duquesne Dukes (11-2), in a 1:00 p.m. contest Saturday, Dec. 31, at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh. The Colonials are still seeking their first road win of the season, boasting an 8-0 mark in home and neutral site games while dropping all three of their away games. The Dukes sit 11-2 and recieved a vote in the most recent USAToday National Poll. MUSKET SHOTS u The Colonials eight wins this season are the most before Christmas or New Years u The road team has won the last three games in this series u Artemis Spanou and Briannica Tye were the first RMU players to score 20 points in the same game since Feb. 7, 2009 against CCSU (Sade Logan, 23; Kendra Williams, 22) u The Colonials are 85-19 (.817) at home since the 2004-05 season u Only 26 players in the nation have more double-doubles than Artemis Spanou’s four u Junior Briannica Tye is 18th nationally in steals (3.6) and 37th in assists (5.0) u RMU boasts players from six different countries and seven players from outside the U.S. NINE BY THE NEW YEAR The Colonials eight wins prior to Christmas are a team record, and, in fact, would be a record for wins before New Year’s Day. With a win Saturday at Duquesne, RMU would have nine wins before the turn of the year, breaking the previous record of seven. The 2006-07 team sat at 7-3 before breaking out the new calendars. THE SERIES VS. DUQUESNE Duquesne leads the all-time series, 25-13, including a win in last season’s game at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The road team has won the last three games in a series that dates back to the 1977-78 season. RMU is 3-11 all-time at Duquesne and 8-6 in home games.
