THE GAME The Robert Morris University Colonials (9-6, 3-1 NEC) face their toughest test of the season when firstplace Sacred Heart (11-4, 4-0 NEC) visits the Charles L. Sewall Center for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off Saturday, January 14. The Colonials received tremendous performances from April Williams (21.0 ppg, 68.4% FG) in splitting games at Central Connecticut State and Bryant. Sacred Heart is unbeaten in Northeast Conference play and sit at 11-4 overall. MUSKET SHOTS u Junior April Williams tallied 25 points at Bryant, connecting on 9-of-13 shots and 7-of-her-11 threepoint attempts. It was the most points scored by an RMU player this season. u Williams averaged 21.0 points and shot 68.4 percent (13-19) in two games last week. u RMU bucked three statistical trends in its win at CCSU - they won on the road, after trailing at halftime and while being outrebounded. They were winless when any of those things happened prior to Jan. 7. u Sophomore Artemis Spanou had a double-double in both games last week, averaging 10.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. u Junior Briannica Tye’s 11 assists at Bryant were the most by an RMU player since Angela Pace (200810) had 12 against SFNY (Jan. 9, 2010). u Five players scored in double-digits for the first time in 107 games in the team’s win at CCSU. Briannica Tye (20), Kelly Hartwell (18), April Williams (17), Mary Durojaye (14) and Atemis Spanou (10) all tallied double-digits in the game. RMU had six players scored at least 10 points in the 2008 NEC Championships game against LIU Brooklyn (Mar. 16, 2008). APRIL SHOWERS Junior April Williams rained three-pointers all weekend long, hitting 11 of the long-range bombs in games at Central Connecticut State and Bryant. Williams went 11-for-16 (.688) from beyond the arc, averaging 21.0 points in the two games. THE SERIES VS. SACRED HEART Robert Morris is 7-14 all-time against Sacred Heart in a series that dates back to Feb. 12, 2000. RMU beat the Pioneers, 68-66, to win the 2007 NEC Championship. These two teams have met once in each of the two seasons with RMU winning the battle in 2010 before dropping a one-point game at the Pitt Center last season.
