The 2012 defending CHA Tournament Champions Robert Morris looks to repeat as Tournament Champions to become the only team besides Mercyhurst to win back-to-back championships. RMU will host the Lions of Lindenwood in a best-of-three series this weekend at the RMU Island Sports Center. The winner of the series will travel to Erie, Pa. for the final four of the tournament next weekend. In other first round action, Penn State travels to RIT this weekend for another best-of-three series.
Series vs. Lindenwood
This season, the Lions seem to have RMU’s number as Lindenwood has won three of four games against the Colonials this year. In the four games, Lindenwood has outscored Robert Morris 14-11. In the two teams last meeting, the Lions earned their first sweep of RMU. Game one of the series was won, 4-3 on an overtime penalty shot. Lindenwood won game two of the series, 4-2. The Colonials last win against the Lions came on January 12 in Pittsburgh.
Scouting Lindenwood
The Lions ended the regular season with a spilt of the CHA Tournament second seed, Syracuse. Lindenwood upset the Orange in game one of the series before Syracuse won the rematch contest. Sophomore forward Alison Wickenheiser leads Lindenwood in scoring with 12 goals and 11 assists this season. Junior forward Allysson Arcibal ranks second in goals with 10. Three Lions are tied for a team-best 12 assists. The Lions have scored 23 power play goals this season while the penalty kill unit has allowed 45. Freshman goaltender Nicole Hensley has registered 993 saves thus far this season to go with a 3.59 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. Hensley has earned four CHA Rookie of the Week honors this season, the most weekly honors earned by any Lion. Lindenwood ranks third in the CHA in power play goals with 23 and third in conversion percentage (14.5). The Lions rank second in the league for power play opportunites with 159.
