RMU Student Halftime Opportunties

Page 1

Dear Robert Morris Student Leader: Another school year is quickly approaching, along with all the activities and events that surround being at RMU. One of the most exciting things about returning to and being on campus during the fall is Colonial Football! Since their inception in 1994, the Colonials have won six Northeast Conference titles, have had two NCAA IAA Mid-Major No. 1 post season rankings and captured two ECAC Bowl Championships. Last year was a truly historic season, as RMU took the NEC crown and became the first NEC team to participate in the NCAA FCS playoffs! Coming off their playoff appearance, the Colonials are poised to have another exciting season. Highlighting the 2011 schedule is a Homecoming showdown with Saint Francis under the lights! The first night game at Joe Walton Stadium is sure to have an atmosphere like no other. For the past several seasons the athletic department has organized a Student Tailgate Party during halftime of the games. Many students have given positive feedback about the student-only tailgates, and we would like to continue with this event at Joe Walton Stadium this fall. This is where your organization comes in. What better way to promote and spread the word about your group than to officially sponsor a student tailgate at a home football game? Not only will you receive the rights to hang banners, signs, etc. on campus and at the stadium, you will receive special public address announcements and other recognition that day. All you do is pay for the day’s tailgate pizza. You can even split the cost with another club and co-sponsor a tailgate. We are attaching a form describing the tailgates in detail and giving you a chance to own a home football tailgate. We know that this is the RIGHT PLAY to make Colonial Football Saturdays the best atmosphere of the year. Please call the athletic marketing office at 412-397-4920, or return the attached form to Robert Morris University, Athletic Marketing Office, Joe Walton Stadium, 6001 University Blvd., Moon Township, Pa. 15108. Thank you for your support and efforts to make Joe Walton Stadium one of the best gameday atmospheres in college football!

To do and need list for STUDENT ORGANIZATION TAILGATE SPONSORSHIP * Supply food and beverage. This means actually going out and buying the food. Pizza works the best, and we are bound by campus contractual agreement to offer only pizza as the food of choice for these tailgates. Hometown Pizza has great prices. Also, make arrangements to have the pizza brought to the stadium ahead of time. The pizza should feed about 200 people. The cost should be around $500.00, but it depends on what you buy. * Be sure to have at least five group members to work the tailgate. These duties include but are not limited to taking delivery on the pizza, setting up and cleaning up. * Designate one or two group members who will oversee the tailgate to assure that things run smoothly. * Student organizations are permitted to hang up and pass out banners and signs to promote their organization and also to receive proper recognition for sponsoring the tailgate. * Don't forget about coolers, plates, cups, napkins, condiments, or silverware (if needed) * Four home games kick off at Noon. For these games, your food needs to be ready for distribution by 1:00 p.m. The Homecoming game begins at 7:00 p.m. For this game, your food should be ready by 8:00 p.m. * The RMU Athletic Department will provide and set up the tent and tables. Ice will be provided by the training staff. Promotions for the tailgate will be done by members of the athletic staff. Any help by the organization(s) in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Any questions please don't hesitate to contact Associate Athletic Director Marty Galosi 412-397-4920 or galosi@rmu.edu.

Your Robert Morris student club/organization can now get involved in the student tailgates. By sponsoring a tailgate, your group will receive SPECIAL BENEFITS and EXCLUSIVE RECOGNITION that’s vital in spreading the word to fellow students about your club/organization. Your club/organization will be able to hang flyers on campus showing your sponsorship, display signs, brochures, etc. at the tailgate and receive special public address mention. You can even team up with another club/organization and split the sponsorship cost. The 2011 season will be very special both on and off the field.
