Series vs. Syracuse

The last meeting between the Colonials and the Orange came a little over two months ago when the teams split a series in Syracuse. Fueled by Kristen DiCiocco’s 31 saves, RMU earned a 2-1 comeback win in the first contest on Friday. Syracuse prevailed in the second game after sophomore Nicole Ferrara scored with 1:15 left in regulation to break a 3-3 tie. Sophomore Rebecca Vint led all Colonials skaters with four points in the two contests. With Syracuse sitting just three points ahead of the Colonials in the CHA standings, Vint looks to spark the Colonials offense once again this weekend.

Scouting Syracuse

Syracuse is coming off a sweep against CHA opponent Penn State. The Orange have been victorious against all CHA opponents this season except Mercyhurst in which they were defeated in 1-0 and 4-1 matchups, respectively. The Orange are lead offensively by sophomore Shiann Darkangelo, who has registered 13 goals in 25 games. Freshman forward Melissa Piacentini leads the Orange in points, tallying 18 so far this season. Both forwards have been members of the weekly CHA Honor Roll. Junior goaltender Kallie Billadeau has tallied a 1.37 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage, both good for second among goaltenders in the CHA. She has racked up a record of 10-6-0 and 16 games this season. She has earned several CHA Goalie of the Week honors and was the CHA Goaltender of the Month for October. The Orange sit just three points behind first place Mercyhurst heading into the weekend.
