Robert Morris competed against nationally ranked Northeastern University and Boston University last weekend in Boston, Mass. The Colonials first match up resulted in a 3-3 overtime tie with the No. 7 Huskies. Senior forward Kelsey Thomas led the RMU scoring effort as she tallied the first hatrick of her career registering a goal in each regulation period of the contest. Senior assistant captain Cobina Delaney and sophomore forward Rebecca Vint each tallied two assists in the contest. On Saturday, RMU fell to the No. 3 Terriers by a 3-0 decision. Senior netminder Kristen DiCiocco registered two 30+ save performances over the weekend. In each game, DiCiocco notched game-highs for shots stopped and combined for 68 saves on the weekend.

Series vs. Vermont

RMU’s last meeting with the Catamounts took place during November of 2006 in Burlington, Vt. The Colonials won the contest, 2-0. Current coach Brianne McLaughlin earned the victory between the pipes for RMU stopping a game-high 21 shots. The other two contests between Robert Morris and Vermont took place in the Colonials innagural season. The first series between the two teams resulted in a 1-1 spilt. RMU won the first contets, 2-1 before dropping the next day rematch 3-1. The first victory for the RMU hockey program came against the Catamounts on Nov. 5, 2005.

Scouting Vermont

The Catamounts return 20 players from the 2011-12 season while graduating only 3, including their points leader, forward Chelsea Rapin. Rapin led Vermont last season with 15 points. The Catamounts return forward Kellie Dineen who led the team in goals last year with eight. Dineen also dished out four assists to tally 12 points. Vermont also returns forward Amanda Pelkey who registered 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) last season. Currently, sophomore forward Klara Myren leads the team in points with 9 (3 goals, 6 assists). Fellow sophomore forwards Meghan Huertas and Brittany Zuback are tied for second in points with seven. Huertas has scored four goals and passed out three assists while Zuback has registered three goals and four assists.
