Cover story… A Medic has been recognised for her outstanding efforts in the Navy over the past year. Emma Bull, 22,from Brightlingsea, was praised for giving accident and emergency care round the clock to casualties as part of her operational sea training, despite being only of junior rank. She has been awarded a Portsmouth Flotilla Award for her efforts. Emma, who went to Colne Community High School, said: “I am there to keep the ship’s staff healthy, to train the first aid teams and ensure everyone has the right medical attention. I like the fact that anyone can come up and talk to me and that they listen to my advice; it has given me a lot of confidence.”. Emma joined the Navy after taking her A-Levels and was carrying out six weeks of training in preparation of deploying to the Middle East on HMS Daring later this rear. Commanding Officer of HMS Daring, Commander Phil Dennis said: “MA Bull is thoroughly deserving of the award. “She operates far beyond her years and experience and is a great asset to the team.” When not on duty, Emma still lives with her parents Ian and Lisa and her older sister Rebecca in Brightlingsea, Essex.

RNA & Naval Associations Deployment to Ireland on the MV Marco Polo (Renamed HMS Marco Polo) - ‘Mini Cruise’ 29 September to 02 October 2107. Dear Shipmates and CONA Colleagues, Just a quick update on the Naval Associations Irish Sea Deployment on HMS Marco Polo ‘Mini- Cruise’. The ship is under sailing orders from Liverpool at 1900 on Friday 29th September 2017, full details are available below. The cruise is currently exclusively booked for RNA and CONA shipmates which can only continue for a limited period Shipmates who would like to attend are required to place a deposit of £100. However, to encourage more Shipmates to book early and ensure the exclusivity the RNA have successfully negotiated with CONA Holiday Service to reduce the deposit so it can be paid in two sums of £50, one now and the other by 31st January. I would really appreciate your cooperation in advertising to your associations what seems to me to be a brilliant opportunity for us all to have a ‘stonkingly’ great time. The drinks package alone is worth it!

HMS Marco Polo is a 22,000 ton cruise(r) ship fully stabilised and air conditioned. All that is required is a £100 deposit per person (or two payments of £50, one now one by 31st January) to confirm your place on this unique cruise. This Mini-Cruise is currently exclusively booked for RNA Shipmates and CONA Association Colleagues but this can only continue for a limited period and if the available places are not booked the cruise company have the option to open this cruise up for the general public to fill up the available places. So Shipmates are requested to book up as early as they possibly can so that this does not occur and the cruise remains as a ‘naval deployment’. The booking form is attached to tis e-mail and is available in the RNA Semaphore Circular. So why not come along and swing that lantern?
