TC H O U S E

TC House is a private residence located in Malang City, East Java. With an area of 90 m2, it has a concept of solving Indonesia's tropical climate problem. The average tropical climate in Malang City ranges between 23 Celsius – 25 Celsius degree, thus taking those temperatures as an advantage in designing a house. The concept of climate-responsive design is to pay attention to the orientation of the building mass, the position and location of openings, and the use of materials that acts as solar thermal insulation.

Building orientation extends from east to west to reduce exposure to solar radiation. The front wall facing east is made with few openings. All walls in this house are shaded from the sun. The first-floor wall is shaded by a second-floor plate, while the second-floor wall is shaded by a secondary skin facade made of wood.

The building mass is designed not attached to the neighboring perimeter walls and made lean with a mass thickness of 4 meters so that good airow is achievable. Openings are maximized on the north and south sides to allow cross ventilation.

The building facade uses a second skin in the form of a grated wood material that functions as solar thermal insulation. Wood is the material that catches and releases the sun's heat quickly so that the thermal conditions in the inner walls are not high.

SC HOUSE

SC House is a private residence that tries to solve the problem of limited land in big cities in Indonesia. This house has an area of 72 m2 located in South Tangerang. The concept of this house is to maximize the needs, comfort, and health of users on a small site to improve the quality of life of users. A common problem that often occurs in a house with small sites is the lack of air circulation and natural lighting. That is because the built area is maximized on the site to meet the space requirements so there is no more space to place openings for air circulation and light.

The solution applied to SC House is to leave a space of 2 meters wide in the back area as an opening for air circulation and lighting. Space in the back area is also used as a washing and drying area. With the remaining space available, the kitchen, dining, and living room are centered in one 5 x 4 meters room without a partition. The side staircase area also functions as a courtyard or dry garden with a roster wall, thereby increasing the area of air circulation and lighting. Spaces that are private such as the main bedroom and children's bedroom are placed on the 2nd oor.

With the concept of this house, it is hoped that all occupants' space needs can be achieved with healthy and comfortable space conditions to improve the quality of life of its residents.

TS HOUSE

TS house is a personal project located in the city of Bogor, West Java. This project has a land area of 780 square meters. The view of the mountains in the south and west is a potential on the site that can be utilized. The built-up area is only 30% of the land area so that the remaining space can be used as a garden.

All client needs can be met with a building area of 234 square meters. The mass of the building is not attached to the perimeter wall so that it still gets a view, sunlight, and air circulation on each side.

In the year 2016, the economic growth of Malang City increased by 5.61 percent, along with population growth, supported by tourism and education factors, and followed by Small and Medium Enterprise, trade, and industry. The Small and Medium Enterprise (UMKM) sector is one of Malang's contributor to economic growth because the city government implements a simple, yet creative economy system. Thus, the government is anticipating new innovative business to appear. Along with population and economic expansion in Malang City, there is plenty of new micro and macro-level firms, as well as companies that have just started investing in Malang. This investment gain led to the existence of a new office complex. Currently, shophouses and small offices dominate the complex. However, the availability of land within the centre of Malang City is starting to reduce. Not only that, the land cost in the centre of Malang City is escalating at a rapid rate. These complications became a new challenge for small startup entrepreneurs and investors that wants to open an office in Malang. Therefore, it is with utmost importance that an office complex or building be built to accommodate the high demand, especially in the field of the creative industry.

There are six types of creative industry businesses in the office area. Of the six firms, spaces are needed to support business activities, such as a recording studio for a music label, a film studio for a production house, and a workshop for architects and designers. Therefore, these reasons can act as the necessary foundation to have the main building and a supplementary building. One building that functions as a rental office, with a total area of 320 m2. Another building as a supporting area that can serve as a studio, workshop, etc.

The new village, which extends along the riverbank surrounded by hills, adjacent to a beach dotted with mangrove forests, is a beautiful settlement. The proximity of plantations allows them to see one another (Mahansilong), changed to Mansilong. Derived from the combination of the words Mahan (meaning: mutual) and Silong or Silo (meaning: seeing/being seen). When combined, Mahansilong implies "seeing one another". Mahansilong means "seeing each other", which shows a form of Likupang people's openness to interact with others. Through interactions with local people, tourists will not only exchange information about tourism objects in Likupang but also exchanging social and cultural activities with them.

3. The shape of the roof was adopted to strengthen the image.

4. Adjustment of the shape and concept of the building.

In the Walewengko house, it is seen that the vertical and horizontal elements in each building are represented by a crossing staircase and a "stacked up" roof structure. This balance is brought into Mahansilong by making the ramp as a vertical element and a raised roof of about five meters to be combined with the ramp.

DECONSTRUCTION ROOF Explanation of the deconstruction of the roof at Walewengko's house, which indicates that it is the facade of the house, one of which is the orientation of the roof. That way, on Mahansilong, marks which side of the facade is on the side of the roof that has a protruding protrudes, as shown in the picture.

JATIM PARK

MALANG

Located in a strategic place for tourism in Batu City on Jl. Sultan Agung, this site is easy to access for tourists from Malang city. There are tourist attractions around the site such as Museum Angkut, Jatim Park, and Alun-Alun Batu.

There are 2 types of performance area in this building, indoors and outdoors. The outdoor performance area is in front so it can also be used as a public space and a parking lot is placed on the backside. The front area is made open without a fence for welcoming pedestrians. This area can be used by local artists as a gathering place or creating events.

At this time the interest in reading for young people has greatly declined. In big cities, people prefer to travel or just simply hang out. People rarely find out just to read in the library, therefore the function of microlibrary is suitable to be presented between public spaces, where people can feel the space of the library with different concepts and are expected to generate interest in reading in public areas. Public spaces in Taman Lumintang, Jl. Gatot Subroto Tengah, Dauh Puri Kaja. Kec. North Denpasar, Denpasar City, Bali has the potential to gather local people. Therefore Lumintang Microlibrary Park was presented to attract attention and increase visitor’s interest in reading.

Utilizing public areas on the site as library building areas.

The mass of the building is beam-shaped with the longest side orientation facing north-south. The mass of the building is beam-shaped to maximize the exibility of space and the function of the space inside. The mass of the building is raised as high as 1.7 m from the ground level so that it allows air to ow at the bottom of the building

Dredge the bottom as deep as 1.3m to be used as a semi-basement multifunctional room.

The roof is made wide to shade from the sun and rain.

The site is processed in such a way as to be comfortable, safe, and can be used by everyone.

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT The building mass extends from east to west to minimize exposure to solar radiation on the surface of the facade and maximize the use of lighting and natural ventilation. The shape of the roof is made as a catcher of rainwater, which can then be used again to water plants in the city park. The building mass is raised 1.7 meters from the ground. Aside from being a multifunctional area, the semi-basement can also reduce humidity in the room because the wind can flow in the area under the building and the indoor floor is not in contact with humid tropical soil.

SMART BUILDING CONCEPT Modules in the facade can be opened/closed by the user to regulate the air circulation, and the sun's shading in the inner space under the user’s request for the room.
