SEMESTER 10, 2022
Within Egypt, cardiovascular disease is by far the leading cause of death out of all non-communicable diseases. Risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease continue to rise at an alarming rate. Rheumatic heart diseases are still responsible for approximately 2,000 deaths per year and of the 18,000 babies born with congenital heart disease each year, 5,000 die due to the lack of proper facilities. The availability of medical treatment is not sufficient to meet regional demand, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths that could have been avoided if suitable facilities and efficient personnel had been available.

“If the purpose of urban planning is not for human health, then what is it for?”
The Medical city is a 540 acres urban gentrifiction of cities into established to sustain current and anticipated medical needs of the New Adminstraive Capital.
The project shall include a master plan of the Medical City. The master plan will include several projects to bring a comprehensive medical city to comply with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) along with Egypt’s 2030 Vision.
With a community-wide health and wellness, the masterplan integrates health-consiousness and lifestyle into all aspects of development. It focuses on creating a distinct place rather than a random collection of business and neighborhoods by providing emphasis on walkability, accessibilty, social interaction, and environmental health and using them as healthy city indicators
Rejuvenation of the city in which the project concept stems from projecting and emphasizing its core identity and historical attributes which inspired the design of the opera house. The interlocking sharp edges symbolize the history and authnitcity from which the city’s art radiate.
