PILARw BOAT Version

Gunshot Detection System for FAST PATROL BOAT

Special Forces, Border Surveillance Units use Fast Patrol Boats with heavy armament in case of ambush or harassing fire situations. Illegal immigration, drug and/or weapons traffic create dangerous situations with high risk of gunshots to law enforcement forces. In these situations, it is impossible by ear to locate a shot origin and sometimes the shot sound itself will not be perceived. Hence PILARw contributes to enhance the situation awareness of the crew and allows taking appropriate action. Composed of a microphone array easily installed on a mast, a processing unit and a small ruggedized display, PILARw indicates in few seconds the position of the shooter: azimuth, elevation, range and calibre identification.

PILRw on DV15 : Array can be seen in the red circle PILARw detects small/medium calibres at distances typically from a couple of hundred meters up to 2000 m, depending on the calibre. • • • • •
