WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK? Follow That Moose
Yellowstone National Park is open 24 hours a day year round, although access is limited during the winter months. Summertime is peak season in Yellowstone and by far the most popular time to visit. You can expect constant crowds and parking areas to fill up quickly during this time. You can buy your National Park pass online to save time at the entrance stations and arrive before 9am to beat the tour bus groups at Upper Geyser and Old Faithful. Predicted Geyser eruption times can be checked in advance at geysertimes.org. Summer daytime temperatures are typically around 70°F at lower elevations and thunderstorms are common in the afternoons. Fewer crowds make April through May and September through October some of the best times to visit. Snow is common in the spring and fall and daytime temperatures range from 30°F to 60°F. The weather in Yellowstone can change quickly and can deviate considerably from the forecast. Always check for the latest conditions on the National Parks Service website or at the park visitors centre and prepare for all conditions when planning your adventure.
