EDITOR’S
LETTER
When you think that the time cannot go any faster, it surprises yout again! Here we are, readu to het back to our busy lives after enjoying the slower and lazier summer days. ‘Back - to school’ posters surrounding us everywhere and we feel like it’s time for a change (no matter how long ago was the last days of school). I talked to a handful of creatives during the hot summer days and heard similar thought - so many of us felt the holiday mode: ON even during busy working days. Now it’s a good time to brush off the beach thoughts and get back with full power to create and archieve new goals. To represent the new creative season, we teamed up with a hair stylist Ross Kwan for our in- house editorial, using unexpected hair decision. He Also shared with us some of his go- to products and how to use them. And to satisfy the curiosities of what goes on models lives (sometimes it is hard to believe that they are real people, as they seem just too perfect) we interviewed the charming Lulu Stone where she shared the ins and outs of modelling business. You are unique. We hope that flipping through the L’affaire magazine pages will get you inspired to explore your uniqueness, get in touch with the core of your great self and radiate who you are to the world. The project ‘Skin’ arises from an idea of Federica Sorbello. The art of makeup fuses with all the shades of human souls, turning the skin in introspective masks. Feeling and emotions are mixed to extrapolate intense psychological and character forms. Vanity, badness, melancholy, wisdom, envy, materialism and falseness, images unfold up to showing an articulated visual processing. Skin becomes a blank canvas, eyes are the windows to moral inclinations. Badness is turning in black with a ‘total black’, which is exposed up to make
faces in a dramatical ‘light and shade’, with a materialism driven by shades of gold, where luxury and aristocracy marks an ostentation made up only with vicious. The vanity is manifested by a riot of strass that extend up to the neck, so dressing a sophisticated woman, It tends to love herself. The Wisdom holds an ethereal role from the golden likeness, relaxing as a candid meditation , a calm reflection. The falsehoods breaks all ties. It represents the duality of the human being, divided in half between black and white, good and bad. The yin and yang
of Chinese philosophy railed against conflicting expressiveness that reveal two sides of the same coin, two parallel lines that end at the same point. Envy in relationships is determined by the explosion of red which are opposed to shades of white, and finally the melancholy takes over with a cobalt blue from intense shades of Disquiet. The eyes have been chosen to play with a living symbolism, observe, to look deep beneath the surface and extract the human facets. The image that opens the project brings us on an inner journey free from chains that aims to represent and labeled people at first glance,
then change color after a thorough development of knowledge. “Skin concludes his account with a universal language made up of truth, transparency and emotions live. Make Up Forever and Kryolan have contributed to the quality of their products to make more authentic the end result with gold leaf, rhinestones and professional materials. The project has experienced a work of seven months, consists of materials and interpersonal research that has enriched my life luggage.
