Joinery Detailing/ “Sandwhich”
Concept The concept for this joinery study is derived from Andre Kertesz’s photograph of two men balancing on each other’s weight. The tension between the two men creates harmony and draws a clear axis that arranges them as equals. This model is a geometric representation of an organic symmetry, two identical halves sustained by a tense force.

Furniture/ Reception Desk
Concept Asymmetry was created by the use of an axis in this reception desk. The inspiration came from “Satyric Woman”, an Andre Kertesz photograph where the human body is appreciated for its asymmetrical nature. The reception desk is therefore divided into two halves that compliment each other while achieving universal design. “Satyric Woman” by Andre Kertesz/ Concept

Galley Kitchen
20
Client: The Graysons Category: Residential Area: 300 Sq. Ft. Software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Podium, Photoshop 21
Residential/ Galley Kitchen
Concept The Graysons want a galley kitchen in their house that gives them privacy while cooking, but at the same time they want to be able to check their guests in the living room. The concept of the axis of symmetry was brought into this project to create organization in the appliances. The architectural feature that allows views to the living room is inspired by the Kertesz photograph that speaks of tension.

Client: Tara Donovan Category: Residential Area: 6,240 Sq. Ft. Software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Podium, Photoshop 27
Residential/ SOHO Loft
Concept A passionate artist, Tara Donovan has moved to the SOHO area to find inspiration for her work. She enjoys having many friends over to dinner parties and her biggest hobby is swimming. The Loft is designed with a strong axis that organizes the spaces appropiately for entertaining guests. A lap pool is located at the south end of the loft for maximum sunlight and shaped in a manner that further emphasizes the axis.
