Case Study - Health Quest
! Local landscapes add a positive influence within the Medical Office environment ! The Client
HealthQuest Medical Practice is a multi-specialty medical group focused on delivering quality health care to the 1.5 million residents of the Hudson Valley. HealthQuest was formed through an affiliation of three local hospitals: Northern Dutchess Hospital (Rhinebeck, NY, Putnam Hospital Center (Carmel, NY) and Vassar Brothers Medical Center, (Poughkeepsie, NY) The prints were installed at One Pine St. Spur, Poughkeepsie, NY.
!
The Challenge Assistant Director Stephen F. Heath was in search of artwork that would convey a local connection as well as a reflection of the Hudson Valley region. The ribbon cutting for the new medical office was scheduled for October 21st, 2009 and the artwork had to be installed prior to this date. Time was of essence and he needed to find a way to create an enhancing environment where patients can enjoy the local scenery and the healing power of nature.
!
The Discovery / Solution Assistant Director Stephen F. Heath discovered Robert Rodriguez Jr through his conservation work with Scenic Hudson, the largest non-profit environmental group in the Hudson Valley. Robert visited the new Medical Office in Poughkeepsie with Stephen and took measurements and photographed the waiting areas and hallways. Based on Robert’s conversation with Stephen, Robert recommended Canvas Museum prints and a custom sized panorama over a table facing the reception area. Robert created a virtual mock up showing the dimensions and how each print would look on the walls. The visuals were e-mailed to Stephen and the final selections were made. Robert also recommended framed poster prints using digital mats with no glass for the empty wall space in the back hallways. The posters were cost effective and allowed for additional prints.
!
The Result All images were printed and wrapped in canvas by Robert at our studio in Beacon, New York. The installation was performed by Robert personally in order to meet the ribbon-cutting deadline on October 21st, 2009.

“As the premier health network of the Hudson Valley, Health Quest is committed not only to the health of our patients, but to our community as a whole.” says Heath. We are very pleased with the remarkable prints supplied to us from Robert Rodriguez Jr Photography. They are a very positive contribution to the environment within our offices. When someone comments on how beautiful the landscapes are we are proud to say that what they see can be found right down the road.”
! Case Study - Middle Hope Family Dental ! Creating a therapeutic environment for a dental office ! The Client
Middle Hope Family Dental provides state-of-the art dentistry services to patients in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas. The office is equipped with the latest advances in dentistry technology to help their patients maintain a lifetime of healthy and bright smiles. They are located on 5392, Route 9W in Newburgh, NY.
The Challenge Dr. Ricardo Rios, DDS has always been an outdoor enthusiast and wanted to find a way to bring nature into his office. “Generally, patients view dental offices as sterile environments,” Dr. Rios said, “I wanted to make my office therapeutic”. The small window in his office was not bringing in much light and the wall was plain.
The Discovery / Solution Dr. Ricardo Rios, DDS first discovered Robert Rodriguez Jr at a art exhibition in Armonk, NY. Dr. Rios stated that he felt a connection with Robert’s images because he’s traveled to the same places. When Robert visited Dr. Rios’ office they discussed different options for each of the rooms. Because Dr. Rios performs more advanced treatments in his exam room, Robert suggested a mural for his exam room and frames for the rest of the rooms. The mural was printed in three separate pieces in order to cover the wall; the window was a challenge. To avoid an unsightly seam, each piece was overlapped slightly to make it look more natural. Robert also brought framed prints to Dr. Rios’ office for viewing and Dr. Rios and his staff liked them so much he decided to keep them all. The mural was printed at Robert’s studio in Beacon, New York. Because it was a custom size Robert had to print three sections separately. Installation was performed by Robert and Dr. Rios helped with the installation as well.
The Result “My patients absolutely love the mural and tell me that it makes them feel less anxious and nervous. They now have something soothing to look at and it makes them feel like they are in the scenery”, says Dr. Ricardo Rios, DDS. “Thank you Robert for making my exam room both inviting and therapeutic.”
Case Study - REI
! Providing one of the largest retailers in the country with local landscapes ! The Client
REI is a privately held retail company selling outdoor recreation gear and clothes via some 110 retail stores in the US, as well as on the internet. When they recently opened new stores in SoHo NYC, and Paramus, NJ, Robert was contacted to inquire about possible use of his Hudson Valley images for large store murals.
The Challenge Because REI has always been sensitive to the local community and environmentally aware, they wanted to display images that really captured the beauty and natural resources available in the Hudson Valley region.
The Discovery / Solution
A search on google quickly brought up Robert’s name and website, and his reputation for capturing the unique character and mood of the Hudson Valley region. This resonated with the art directors at REI who wanted to make sure that the local community and their employees could connect with the region, and inspire customers to get out and explore the great outdoors.
The Result REI installed several large 15 to 24 foot murals in the two stores, including a unique lightbox installation that makes the image glow from within. The images have received overwhelming approval by customers, employees, and visitors to the stores.
! Case Study - Astor Services ! Creating an environment that is conducive to corporate meetings ! The Client
Founded in 1953, Astor Services is a community based non-profit organization providing educational services in a caring environment where children and their families find strength, healing, hope and trust. They now serve over 6,000 children and families annually in the Mid-Hudson Valley region and the Bronx. Their Mid-Hudson branch is located at 13 Mt. Carmel Place, Poughkeepsie, New York.
The Challenge Deputy Director, Dianne Terpenning was in the process of updating their conference room at their Poughkeepsie, New York location. Dianne wanted to create an environment that was both professional and soothing. The room was sterile and cold and she felt nature photography would revamp the office and make the meetings more enjoyable.
The Discovery / Solution Dianne Terpenning first discovered Robert’s work at an exhibition at the Marlboro Free Library in Marlboro, New York. A consultation was scheduled with Robert Rodriguez Jr to help them decide which prints would best complement the atmosphere they wanted to create. Given their location just a few blocks from the Hudson River, Robert showed Dianne print samples of the Hudson Valley. Wall measurements were taken and sizing and framing were discussed. Because the president of Astor Services preferred black and white scenes, some of the landscapes were converted at our studio in Beacon, New York. In order to work within the customer’s budget, the photographs were printed, matted, and framed in our private studio upholding Robert’s extreme standards for print quality and presentation.
The Result The prints were personally delivered and installed in a timely manner by Robert. Dianne says “…everyone is thrilled with the prints and now that the new furniture and blinds have arrived, we’re quite professional looking. Many thanks again – everyone loves the prints!”
