I graduated from high school in Carrollton, Mississippi and attended Holmes Community College in Goodman, Mississippi, Wood College in Mathiston, Mississippi and the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi where my majors were Social Work, Sociology, Real Estate, and Business and my minors were Southern Studies and Urban Planning. I was fortunate to attend Ole Miss at a time when Willie Morris, Barry Hannah, Ellen Douglas, and others were in residence and Oxford was still something of a sleepy Southern college town. I graduated with a B.A. from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York and completed a Certificate In Gerontology from the University of Memphis and a Certificate In Spirtuality, Health, and Healing from California State University, Long Beach.
