Park assaults put parents in spotlight Three teenagers hospitalised after ‘planned’ attack
I PAUL HOSFORD
THE Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Guss O’Connell (Ind), urged local parents to take more responsibility for their children’s behaviour in the wake of a serious assault in Waterstown Park. Cllr O’Connell said: “What
happened on Monday, July 23, was extremely serious. A small number of teenagers were set upon by a larger number of teenagers and three had to be hospitalised. “It was not a random incident, but a well-planned attack. Both those injured and those who arrived with weapons
and did the attacking were all in their teens.” The Garda Press Office confirmed that gardai are investigating three separate assaults on the evening, and appealed for any witnesses to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station at 01 666 7200. Full Story on Page 2
