Boost for business as rates are cut Councillor says that the move is ‘good news’

Q LAURA WEBB

HARD-pressed businesses in Dublin 15 got an early Christmas present following a decision by Fingal County Council to cut commercial rates in the county by 2%. The €221,634,000 budget for 2012 was approved at a

special meeting in County Hall on Tuesday, December 20. Each percentage reduction in the annual rate on valuation or rate multiplier “reduces the overall rates burden by €1.2 million”. We l c o m i n g t h e c u t , Labour councillor Michael

O’Donovan described it as “good news for local businesses”. “The 2% is probably only a small help to businesses but if you take our reductions over the past four years; our rates are an encouragement and a help to the small businesses.”
