End of the line on calls to stop drugs Q LAURA WEBB

A DECISION to terminate the Dial to Stop Drug Dealing phone line has been slammed by local politicians, who say it had the potential to enable communities combat drug-related crimes. The nationwide initiative, which was successfully piloted in Blanchardstown in 2006, was discontinued on January 6. It allowed

residents to make safe and anonymous calls to help stop drug dealing in the community. Disappointed with the decision, Dublin West Sinn Fein representative Paul Donnelly said removing the successful phone number is “another resource in the fight against drugs that will now be absent in Dublin West”.
