Cemetery restrictions spark local outrage Council reinstates closure times on Sundays due to ‘staffing issue’
Laura Webb
There has been outrage among locals this week as Fingal reinstated its restriction on vehicular access to Mulhuddart Cemetery. A proposal to restrict
opening hours for vehicles first came to the fore at the end of January when the council erected signs outside the cemetery with access times for cars. This included full closure on Sundays. Local residents and local
representatives voiced their objection to the Sunday closure and the sign was subsequently removed. However, locals were left incensed this week when they discovered the sign with closure times had been
erected once again. The council said due to “staffing issues” the vehicular access will remain closed on Sundays but it will be open this Sunday because it’s Mother’s Day. Full Story on Page 2
