ROOKIE senior Minister and Dublin West TD, Leo Varadkar, who is also a GP, has admitted the first four months in Government were akin to being an “intern” on hospital wards. In an exclusive interview with the Gazette, the youngest member of the Cabinet with a senior portfolio said that, although being a Minister was a major undertaking, it’s crucial to make time for a
social life: “Being a Minister is a really big job. It’s long hours, so it is hard to find the time, but I do think you have to set aside the time to have a bit of a social life.” Speaking about the leadership heave against Enda Kenny last year, he said the FG leader had confounded expectations as Taoiseach and that he owed him his full loyalty.
