WITH students at Mount Sackville School well-known for their enthusiastic and generous support for a wide range of local, and national, causes, it was no surprise that D15 Hospice was the recent recipient of funds raised by the girls. Elana Boyle, Charlotte Campbell, Ella Bleu Creaner and Georgia McNally joined their friends and schoolmates for a recent cheque presentation to the local hospice. Their generous fundraising is a fine Christmas act to applaud.

Drivers urged to stay safe this Christmas Appeal to be mindful over festive break after over 150 people die on roads this year

STAY road safe this festive season, and be mindful that overindulgence the night before can affect driving the morning after. That’s the message com-

ing from Blanchardstown gardai, who wish residents an enjoyable Christmas but are making people aware of the risks they take if they drink and drive. As of December 13, 153 people have lost their lives

on Irish roads so far this year. This represents 22 fewer than at the same time in 2011. However, despite this decrease, gardai say it is always unacceptable for any person to die or be seriously

injured on Irish roads in a road traffic collision. Checkpoints across the area will be increased across the district throughout Christmas and the New Year. Full Story on Page 3
