Council protest deemed ‘violent and intimidating’ Impact trade union condemns actions of property tax demonstrators

A recent protest in the foyer of the Fingal council buildings has been described as a violent, intimidating and aggressive action against staff there.
The Impact Trade Union Fingal Branch condemned the actions of members of the Campaign Against Household and Water Taxes (CAHWT) at a council meeting in Swords on Monday February 11.
Labour councillor Michael O’Donovan said he has “no problem” with legitimate protests. “It is a bit disruptive but I don’t mind because I think people have the right to protest. I know people are upset about taxes, and peo-
ple are under pressure.” The CAHWT members were campaigning against the property tax and according to one protester, the group were left “with no option” but to stage the protest. Full Story on Page 8
