hopes are high for a class of budding young scientists in Mount Sackville School who are participating in the BT Young Scientist of the Year Exhibition next weekend in the RDS. The sixth class students are working on an optical project titled How do Lenses, both Man-made and Natural Work with the help of their teacher Paula O’Malley. The class recently received a visit from the team at Vision Express in Blanchardstown including Optometrist Aisling Wade, (right) who gave the students a wonderful insight into how the eyes work and the function of lenses.

DUBLIN ZOO continues to delight tourists at home and abroad, boasting a record-breaking one million visitors in 2012.
The grand total for last year came in at 1,029,417, a 2.5% increase on the figures for 2011. Director of Dublin Zoo Leo Oosterweghel said: “We are absolutely thrilled
to have welcomed even more visitors than last year… “Reaching one million in 2011 was fantastic, but to do it again and add to the number is phenomenal.”
He went on to say that the success of the popular tourist attraction is down to the “dedicated team” at Dublin Zoo. Full Story on Page 9
