Parents take matters into their own hands
Glasnevin school parents band together to raise sensory room funds RACHEL D’ARCY PARENTS of pupils attending a special school in Glasnevin have raised over €10,000 for a sensory room, after the Department of Education have failed to provide them with funding.
Scoil Chiarain in Glasnevin caters specifically for children with ‘mild general learning disabilities’ from ages 5 to 18, some of whom have autism or challenging behaviours. Parents have been petitioning the Department for funding for a sen-
sory room for children who become distressed, but have said that despite repeated promises, the Department have failed to provide any funding for the room, or an extension to the building, which is almost 50 years old. CONTINUED ON PAGE 4
Partner charged with murder
THE PARTNER of a woman found dead in her apartment in Cabra last Sunday, was charged with the murder of the mother-of-two on Tuesday. Sean Nolan, who has an address at Ashington Crescent on the Navan Road, appeared in the Criminal Courts of Justice on Tuesday morning, charged with the murder of 32-year-old Amanda Carroll. Her body was discovered by a young family member in her home at Homestead Court, Quarry Road on Sunday afternoon, shortly after 2:30pm.
