Big staff exodus is a blow to council ‘Services will be protected’ as 61 members retire

SOUTH Dublin County Council has vowed to protect frontline services and meet the challenges of 61 staff leaving before the Government early retirement deadline on February 29. Sixty-one staff applied
before the February 1 closing date for applications for the early retirement scheme. The losses will mostly be made up of clerical administrative staff, but a council spokesman is confident that the challenges of working with fewer staff will be met. “Due to the agreement in
place under Croke Park, the staff won’t be replaced. That is a challenge for us, to reorganise and protect services. “It is a constant process, with strategic review and change in our organisation. It is our biggest challenge.” Full Story on Page 6
