Ridge to appeal FG whip removal decision I PAUL HOSFORD
LOCAL Fine Gael councillor Therese Ridge has appealed the decision to remove the Fine Gael whip, following a disciplinary hearing ino the Mahon Tribunal findings. Cllr Ridge, who has been a councillor since 1985, has been given until the end of this week to resign from all committees related to her role as a public representative, or she will face expulsion from
the party. In a statement, party general secretary Tom Curran said: “Having considered the submissions made and the evidence heard, the view of the Fine Gael Disciplinary Committee was that it was injudicious and unwise for Cllr Ridge to have accepted the donation in question.” Cllr Ridge was not available for comment when contacted. Derek’s sole purpose: Helping to show students’ aid for Brazil SHOE enough, local Fine Gael Deputy Derek Keating put his best foot forward to stride across Leinster House’s lawn – dressed as a construction worker flip-flop – to meet King’s Hospital students, including Emma Conlon, and Clondalkin native, Adam Clayton.
His unusal attire was to highlight the outstanding fundraising undertaken by the school, which has raised €40,000 to build houses in poor regions of Brazil in June. The school’s Serve Brazil construction group was represented in distinctive style by Deputy Keating.
