WITH its motto of Every Little Helps, Tesco recently presented a cheque for €500 to members of Foxrock Cabinteely Ladies Gaelic Football Club, at Tesco Stillorgan, in honour of their recent victory in the Tesco Homegrown Dublin Senior Championship Final. Katriona Cassidy, Tesco Stillorgan store manager, presented the cheque to the team’s Sarah Brophy, Anne-Marie Murphy, Amy Connolly and Niamh Collins, who were delighted to check out the funds for the team.
Licence to drill off Dalkey draws fire
Tanaiste called on to back demand for public enquiry

THE granting of a foreshore licence by the Department of the Environment, enabling Providence Resources to drill for oil 6km off the Dalkey coast, has been widely criticised by locals, politicians and environmentalists.
Despite repeated requests from residents and heritage groups to conduct a public enquiry ahead of any decision to grant a drilling licence, Jan O’Sullivan (Lab), Minister of State at the Department, announced last week that the foreshore licence had been granted.
Local councillor Cormac Devlin (FF) is calling on the Tanaiste, Eamon Gilmore, to intervene and allow a public enquiry to go ahead. He said: “The environmental issue is paramount and is of huge concern because the drilling is so close to the shore.” Full Story on Page 4
