School pupils were delighted to be in the right place at the right time – just about – for some fun with a very light (and very brief) snowfall as they walked to their Rathfarnham school on a chilly morning recently. They were taking part in a COW day, choosing the healthy and encironmentallyfriendly option to Cycle Or Walk to school, rather than avail of car journeys, and with the unexpected snow providing an ice surprise. revaluation” process for the fact that no reduction would be made in rates this year. The decision not to make a cut came in spite of a call from Neil Keenan, president of the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Chamber, to reduce rates. In a letter sent to councillors in December, Mr Keenan
said: “Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown has the highest rates of any of the Dublin area local authorities. “If the proposed council budget is adopted, the gap will worsen, because the other local authorities in Dublin are reducing their rates for 2012.” Full Story on Page 4
