On the day, Hope’s balloons will be released around the country to help mark the event. The Alexandra College students recently saw at first-hand how some children struggle with daily life on the streets in Kolkata, prompting their support for the campaign.
Lettie denounces claims over zoning Says Eamon Ryan remarks entirely ‘incorrect’ on DLR

SANDYFORD/Glencullen councillor Lettie McCarthy (Lab) has denounced a statement by former Green Party TD, Eamon Ryan, on television about Labour councillors’ agreement over issues of zoning in the past.
Cllr McCarthy was speaking about areas such as Carrickmines and Ticknock, which were zoned despite Labour councillors’ objections in Dun LaoghaireRathdown council chambers several years ago. She said that Eamon Ryan’s comments about Labour
councillors’ being complicit in bad zoning choices in councils were entirely “incorrect” when it came to Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown. Cllr McCarthy particularly singled out Ticknock as a zoning mistake made by Fianna Fail and Fine Gael. Full Story on Page 7
