Ticknock plan for retirees opposed BAIRBRE NI BHRAONAIN
DUN Laoghaire Rathdown County Manager Owen Keegan has announced that the proposed Ticknock retirement village should not go ahead, following the public consultation process. The report assessed and responded to all of the submissions from local residents, business people and public bodies, and concluded that the site
was too isolated and inconvenient for the housing of older people. Keegan recommended the council members not proceed with the variation to the County Development Plan. The proposed development is to go before councillors again next month. Councillor Lettie McCarthy (Lab) is urging DLR residents to contact their councillors, asking them to support the manager’s recommendations. Full Story on Page 2
A sticky moment: Hands-on fun with chemistry at Imaginosity SEAN Sherlock, Minister of State
for Research and Innovation, made an elementary decision to stand back as first-class pupils of St Raphaela’s School, Stillorgan got to grips with an Amazing Gloop tabletop experiment at
Imaginosity recently. These girls were exploring the properties of solids, liquids and gases at the popular south Dublin children’s museum, which was launching its Everyday Chemistry programme to engage with budding scientists.
