Anger at Garda station closures  Barbara Ni bhraonain

A MEETING of 350 local residents, gardai, teachers and politicians was held in Kiltiernan this week to object to the closure of Stepaside and Kill O’ The Grange Garda stations, recently announced by Justice Minister Alan Shatter. Shane Ross TD (Ind), who organised the meeting, said: “We are going to war and not giving up. We have

great numbers and won’t be fooled by this talk of more efficiency. A community of 20,000 people who are served by [these stations] will feel unsafe.” Garda Representative Association spokesman Ultan Sherlock told The Gazette: “We’re angry and disappointed about the closure. The whole area is being abandoned by the State, and… will be extremely vulnerable now.” Full Story on Page 3
