Donabate road saga takes another turn Council defends single-lane link

FINGAL County Council has reiterated its commitment to investing in Donabate and Portrane after an official complaint was lodged over the new distributor road. Supporting Proper Development Don-
abate wrote to the council and the Taoiseach outlining what it sees as an investment shortfall in the peninsula. It has emerged that the long-awaited Donabate Distributor Road is to be built as a single-lane carriageway, despite planning permission for a dual carriageway along 3km
of the route. However, in a statement issued at the weekend, FCC defended the link, and said it “is continuing to progress its plans to deliver a sustainable community on the Donabate peninsula by delivering physical and social infrastructure and improving connections between the new and existing communities”. London glory for D15 lad’s judo skill
A CASTLEKNOCK boy who attends St Vincent’s Centre at the Navan Road had a superb result at the British Adapted Open in London recently – the judo-loving teen won a bronze medal, despite only taking up the sport a year ago. Fintan Dooley (13) had a great result despite his short time getting to grips with judo, with his coach praising his dedication and commitment that led to the prestigious win at the European ID Judo Championships. Modest Fintan talked to Dublin Gazaette about his “epic” trip to London.
