€430m fund to benefit Lucan schools Q PAUL HOSFORD
THERE was a major boost on the schools front this week, following the announcement that several schools’ projects in Lucan have been given the go-ahead as part of a €430 million education infrastructure plan for 2012. Work will begin on a new school site for Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada in 2012, while refurbishment works will take place at St Mary’s NS, in Air-
lie Heights. Welcoming the development, local Fine Gael TD, and the Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald, said: “Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada has been waiting on a new site for four years. “|I am delighted that this new Government has prioritised this school, and that construction on the new site will begin in 2012.” Full story on Page 6
Nicola’s night: Lucan woman named as top hotel manager MINISTER Leo Varadkar was on hand to congratulate Nicola Cunningham, from the Moriarty Group, when she was crowned as best Rooms/Revenue Division Manager in Ireland recently. Nicola, who lives in Lucan with
her family and her seven-year-old son, Darragh, was presented with her award at a glittering ceremony recently, where she was congratulated by Minister Varadkar and her peers on her outstanding management skills.
