New primary school confirmed for area 600-place facility will be completed by 2013 – Quinn

THERE was good news for Lucan this week, after a new 600-student school was confirmed for the area. The Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn, announced that a new local primary school will be built and completed by
2013, under the patronage of County Dublin VEC. The news was welcomed by local politicians. Fine Gael deputy Derek Keating said: “This is an exciting time in education for Lucan, especially when we consider the state of the national finances. “The Minister informed me
that a School Establishment Committee reported to him last week outlining that the County Dublin VEC, under the direction of its CEO, Dr Marie Griffin, responded with evidence of such a demand, and that they were happy to become patrons,” he said. Full Story on Page 2
