THE monthly meeting of South Dublin County Council (SDCC) was halted this week after protesters occupied the council chamber. Socialist Party MEP for Dublin Paul Murphy was one of five people arrested at the protest, after campaigners against household and water charges entered the meeting on Monday. A 19-year-old protester, Aaron
Nolan, was treated in hospital after the protest, after claiming he was manhandled by gardai. Councillor Caitriona Jones (Lab) said: “The irony is that we were just debating a motion that carried a lot of sentiment against the property tax. But the people who were protesting had no interest in democratic debate; they were only interested in obstructing democracy.” Full Story on Page 4
The shoe fits: Intel supports Dress For Success charity SARAH Sheehan and Emer O’Leary from Intel Ireland’s Human Resources department were on hand last week to give Niamh Dunne a helping hand when the technology giant laid on a dedicated, day-long series of activities
designed to support the Dress For Success organisation. Activities included “train-the-trainer” presentations on interview, etiquette and job-seeking skills, as well as one-toone consultations to provide advice and guidance on CV writing.
