Castle is to reopen on a phased basis Council says that move will begin first week in July

THE much-anticipated reopening of Malahide Castle, following its multimillion euro redevelopment, is set to take place on a phased basis this summer, with Avoca not due to open its doors till September.
Fingal County Council said that Phase 1, which involves opening of the redeveloped castle, including the museum and interpretation area as well as the West Lawn, will open the first week in July. Phase 2 will see the courtyard, including visitor centre, retail shop, Avoca restaurant
and walled botanical gardens, open in early September. Fine Gael Deputy Alan Farrell said it was disappointing that Avoca would not open till September “particularly given that they are missing out on the summer season”. Full Story on Page 5
