Scrapyard blaze enquiry under way Houses evacuated after fire breaks out on Swords Rd
Natalie Burke
Four houses were evacuated following an overnight fire in Swords earlier this week, when a massive blaze broke out in a scrapyard on the Old Swords Road. The fire, which broke out at the Boland’s car dismantlers on
Nevinstown Lane, is believed to have started just before midnight on Sunday, October 7, and continued until the early hours of Monday morning. Recent media repor ts claimed the scrapyard contained a number of gas cylinders, which were feared to have been affected by the fire.
A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade, however, confirmed the cylinders did not go on fire but, due to “standard procedure”, it was necessary the area was evacuated. The cause of the blaze is still unknown and is currently under investigation. Full Story on Page 3
