Company Sergeant Harris and Lieutenant Stringer take the tricolour down from the roof of Sluagh Hall in Swords for the last time as the army barracks beside Fingallians GAA club, home for over 70 years to A Company 65 Battalion (RDF 2005 - 2013) and before that B Company 7 Battalion (FCA and LDF since the 1940s) closed its gates for the last time at the weekend. Anti-austerity demo halts council meeting Councillor slams “aggressive” protest with “grand plan to rush chamber”

OVER 25 campaigners staged a protest at the Fingal County Council building this week, as members of the Campaign Against the Household and Water
Taxes (CAHWT) brought Monday’s council meeting to a standstill. The CAHWT members were campaigning against the proper ty tax and, according to one protester, the group were left with no
option but to stage what they called a peaceful protest. However, Cllr Eoghan O’Brien (FF) said there was “nothing peaceful about it”. “It was actually quite
aggressive. “I have no problem with protesters or peaceful protests but the grand plan yesterday was... to rush the chamber.” Full Story on Page 2
