VANDALISM continues to be a problem at a contentious local building site despite assurances from gardai and the council.
The development of 63 social houses at St Cuthbert’s Park in Clondalkin has been dogged with problems since work started on the site in October. Workers even downed tools last month and refused to work on the site
due to acts of intimidation and violence against them. They only returned after assurances were given about their safety and on site security was ramped up. The problem still lingers however and three serious incidents this month are under investigation by local gardai. FULL STORY ON PAGE 2
AN inquest into the tragic deaths of a woman and three children in a fire in Clondalkin last year was told the blaze was caused by a tea light. Annemarie O’Brien, 27, who was eight months’ pregnant, her two-year-old daughter Paris, four-year-old nephew Jordan McGinn and 22-month-old niece Holly O’Brien, all died from smoke inhalation following a fire in Cluainin Cronan facility on Kilcronan Avenue, Clondalkin on 8 March 2017. Verdicts of accidental death were returned at Dublin Coroner’s Court last week for all the deceased.
