Burleigh Village (James Street Precinct) • Surveyed over 100 businesses (50% return rate) • Responses primarily from business owners • Age group represented from 15 to 55 yo Likes: - Atmosphere, sense of community, uniqueness, holiday feel all year round, variety of shopping and dining options, small boutique/independent businesses, proximity to beach Dislikes: - Car parking cost and 2hr restriction, aggressive parking inspectors, tired and dated appearance of buildings and streetscape (incl lack of street trees along James St) Wants: - More public toilets, community facilities (eg art gallery, information centre), community gardens, upgraded footpaths, community and cultural events, cheaper rents, return of the post office Future for village: - Improvement to existing streets, lanes, & arcades for events and other activities, beach theme, creation of an arts and cultural theme.
