2 2017 CORN HILL ARTS FESTIVAL GUIDE

WELCOME

TO HISTORIC CORN HILL The 49th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival presented by ESL Federal Credit Union

is celebrating the arts and culture of Rochester’s first residential neighborhood. Admission and shuttle buses are free, so bring the whole family! Volunteers from the Corn Hill Neighbors Association work yearround to prepare for the Festival, which welcomes over 125,000 visitors. More than 365 juried artists from across the US and Canada will display and sell their handcrafted arts & crafts across nine streets. With so many artists, you’ll be sure to find that special gift or the perfect piece for your home, office or garden.

Do you have an eye for up-and-coming artists? Then don’t miss the 9th Annual Emerging Artists Expo presented by MVP Health Care. The Expo, located on Eagle St., features 21 talented young artists from our region. Music lovers will be sure to enjoy a weekend of free entertainment including music across four stages, showcasing 26 live performances. This year’s don’t-miss performance will be at the SBH Main Stage and will feature Miller and The Other Sinners. This band brings a delta grit, Memphis soul, gospel spirit and funky rhythm and blues to the stage. The Main Stage/Food Court area will be selling beer and wine in addition to a wide selection of delicious foods. The Labatt Blue Light Gazebo Stage will feature Todd East’s Billy Joel Tribute Show. While you’re here, enjoy our adjacent, shaded Glenora Wine Garden and taste a variety of superb Finger Lakes’ wines along with craft, Labatt and Genesee beers on tap.

Got kids? Bring them along because Corn Hill is a family-friendly event! New this year is the Stokoe Farms Express, an early 1800’s steam engine replica, complete with a coal car, passenger cars and caboose! Our Family Fun Zone will host the popular 5th Annual Fairy Houses Tour. You’ll be inspired by the creativ-

ity of the 65 extraordinary, all-natural, handmade Fairy Houses that will be on display. Kids will also love the Bristol Mtn. Aerial Adventure Park, enjoy the Bounce Houses and they can even try their hand at spin art! Plus, the RFD’s Fire Safety House will give kids a chance to learn fire safety tips, too!

festival will truly have something for everyone,” said Bill Kelly, volunteer Chairperson. “We look forward to bringing even more art, music and magical experiences to those who attend. And, we are grateful for the support that ESL Federal Credit Union has brought to this year’s event along with all of our sponsors and the City of Rochester.” Funds raised during the Festival will be used by the Corn Hill Neighbors Association to support ongoing community services. The 49th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival commemorative poster was created by Ryan Martin, a 2016 Emerging Artists Expo participant. Ryan utilized acrylics and a rapid, energetic painting style to express the vibrant character of the historic Corn Hill community. Martin, a 25-year old artist, lives and works in Rochester where he developed a passion for the arts at a very young age. He credits his mother, Joanne and grandmother, Anne who taught him to sew. Martin went on to major in Studio Art at Providence College receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2014. After college, he moved back to Rochester and began doing commissioned pieces and opened a studio at Station 55 near the Public Market. His new passion is handmade designer clothing and accessories—each piece designed and sewn by Martin himself. Ryan’s artwork will be available on collectible merchandise celebrating the 49th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival. Learn more at http://www.ryanmartincollection.com/. The Merchandise Booth is located at the Frederick Douglass and Adams Street intersection.

Ride a bike? Park it at our Bike Corral on Exchange St. & Fitzhugh Place. If you own a private boat, Corn Hill Landing offers docking access. Visit cornhillartsfestival.com for details 2017 CORN HILL ARTS FESTIVAL POSTER
