A rigorous academic regimen and a deep commitment to community leadership distinguished Rocco DeLorenzo's educational journey at Cornell University. After graduating from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, he completed dual majors in Food Science, concentrating on business and Applied Economics and Management, with a focus on strategy and food industry management. This educational foundation equipped him to navigate and influence the complex intersections of science and business within the food industry. Throughout his time at Cornell, Rocco was extensively involved in the Chi Psi Fraternity, where he rapidly assumed key leadership positions, such as Risk Manager and Academic Chair. These roles allowed him to implement significant safety protocols and educational initiatives, enhancing the fraternity experience and setting standards for responsible management. His leadership extended to the broader fraternity community through his role as VP of Membership and Alumni Development on the Cornell Interfraternity Council (IFC) Executive Board. Here, Rocco spearheaded the development of a comprehensive Hazing Prevention Training program, which he rolled out to fraternity leaders, significantly enhancing safety and cohesion within the community. Rocco's proactive approach to leadership was notably demonstrated in his response to a drug overdose incident within the IFC community. He quickly organized Narcan Training for fraternity members, markedly improving safety preparedness across the board. This initiative later influenced broader university policies regarding health and safety training. The challenges Rocco faced during his tenure were not limited to health and safety; following reports of sexual misconduct within the fraternity community, he led the IFC in an emergency response that included a temporary suspension of social events and the development of a Sexual Violence Prevention plan.
