As a graduate of Ferndale High School, he was selected to the All-State team and named Mr. Soccer in the state of Michigan in 1977. After high school he signed with local Oakland University where he served as a team captain in his senior year and was named to the All-Midwest All-Star Team. In 1982, Hermiz and the Grizzlies made an appearance at the NCAA Division II final four. After college Hermiz took his talents into the professional ranks of soccer where he was a member of the Iraqi American Sport Club. In 1998 he became the founder/owner of the Metrostars Soccer Club where he also served as the director of coaching for two years. He spent a total of seven years with the Metrostars where he coached various age groups ranging from U-10 through U-18. Many players from these teams went on to receive collegiate scholarships. In addition to the Metrostars, Hermiz has played a role in many other local soccer organizations including the owner of Shelby Soccer City from 1996-2008, coowner of Vardsarstars Soccer Club from 2004-2006, and currently he owns and directs Winstar Sports which he began in 2010.
