About the NAIA The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, is the governing body for all athletic programs in more than 260 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. The long-held mission of the NAIA is to promote the education and development of wellrounded students and productive citizens through intercollegiate athletics. COACHING STAFF Head Coach Evan Valeri, 1st Season Coach Valeri takes over the men’s tennis program in it’s inaugural season as the first ever head coach for Rochester College. Valeri graduated high school from Pinckney High School in 2006. Valeri starred on both the soccer and tennis teams including winning three varsity letters in tennis. His senior year he led the Pirates serving as the team’s captain and playing one singles. Evan was also a member of the National Honor Society. Valeri attended Ferris State University where he graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Tennis Management/Marketing. During his time at FSU he interned at Salt Creek Club in Hinsdale, Ill., the Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Mich., and the Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Fla. Valeri primarily taught tennis lessons at each of his internships. In 2011-2012 Valeri served as a senior staff professional at the Georgetown Prep tennis Club in Rockville, Md. From there he served as the Director of Tennis at The Old Georgetown Club in Bethesda, Md. Valeri also served as the varsity tennis coach for The Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Md. In 2012 Valeri moved back to Michigan where became the Director of Tennis at Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield, Mich. During that time he also worked as a tennis professional at the Birmingham Racquet club in Birmingham, Mich. Currently, Valeri serves as a tennis professional at Life Time Fitness in Rochester Hills, Mich. Valeri is a certified United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Professional, United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA) Master Racquet Technician, and a Sports Science Level 1. He manages his own tennis website and has contributed articles to the USPTA Midwest Newsletter. Evan and his wife, Mallory, currently reside in West Bloomfield, Mich.
