Internship search and interview process

Matching process, consisting of the exchange of the EP AN and the TN AN

And now, it's time to start getting ready and incredible and challenging experience with AIESEC...

But first, there's still two more stages...

Paperwork and preparation

The exchange

Paperwork and preparation

1.- It is mandatory that you hire a health insurance for the time of your internship. Once you've hired one, it is very important that you send us a copy of it. 2.- For when you buy your plane ticket, bear in mind that it is necessary that the plane should land in Airport Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza). This way we asure the pick up.

Virtual IPS The Incoming Preparation Seminar, is an obligatory seminar provided by the iGCDP team in AIESEC for all MATCHED Exchange Participants who are coming to the city soon. The virtual incoming preparation seminar is the first instance we have to tell you about Argentinian culture and about the city, so that you can start preparing for the culture shock that you may undergo when you arrive. It is also a space for you to clear any doubts you may have about our country, our city, our culture or the internship. It will take place 2 or 4 weeks before the EP's arrival to the city.

Packing...

Needed electronical devices: cellphone, tablet, notebook, etcĂŠtera.

Voltage converters/power adapters

American dollars. In Argentina there are two main types of dollars: Official and Parallel. (It is very important that you bring dollars and not other currency) The"Official"dollar is the one we could get in banks after having undergone a process of approval by the AFIP, and its dependant of the bank's capacity to sell dollars. The Parallel dollar is one that is selled in different non official entities and that is not regulated by the government. The value of the dollar in Argentina is very unstable and tends to change everyday, you can check its value regularly by checking this website: http://www.lanacion.com.ar/dolar-hoy-t1369

Clothing... The weather in Argentina is very diverse, so the type of clothes you pack will depen on the city you're going to be travelling to, and the time of you year in which you travel...

La Plata With mild weather, the average temperature is of 16,3째 approximately, and the average annual precipitations are 993.9 mm. For its closeness to La Plata River it tends to be very humid, the annual average humidity being of 80%. As for the wind, the annual average intensity is of 12 km/h. The highest temperature registered was of 39째 in summer, and the lowest temperature registered was of -5,7째 in winter.

10 packing tips 1.- Don’t forget essentials

Before you start packing, make a list of everything you have to bring and should never forget. Before you pack, make sure you have organized everything you need, this might take some time, but it’s important to dedicate enough time for this.

2.- Pack only what you need

A third of the things you prepare to pack should be ruled out. You should critically separate the things that are truly necessary, and those things you’re packing because of “what if…”

3.- Wrinkle-free clothes

It is convenient that trousers, jeans and the heaviest clothes go first in the suitcase.

4.- Be careful with shoes

Shoes should always be packed inside plastic bags, otherwise they’re a threat to the cleanness of your clothes. You can use the interior of your shoes to put socks as a way to save some space.

5.- Things that are in the bottom of your backpack will be unpacked first

You could make rolls with your clothes, put them in plastic bags and group them in your luggage so as not to have to take everything out or make a mess if you want to take out something that’s on the bottom.

6.- Use all the space

You can use every free space in you suitcase to place the linen clothes or the cotton clothes, if you make them into rolls they will fit anywhere and won’t get wrinkled. Same works for sweaters and bigger clothes, if you make then into rolls they will occupy less space.

7.- Be careful with toiletry items

Necessaries are usually not waterproof, so for safety you should put your toiletry items in plastic bags with hermetic closure.

8.- Do not take sharp elements in your handbags

If you are travelling by plane, you will have problems at the airport with these elements, so you should make sure that they’re in your suitcase.

9.- Make sure you know what the weather is like where you’re going

The best way for you to make sure that you’re taking everything you need as regards clothing, is to know what the weather will be like where you’re going.

10.- Money

Money is always an issue, if you have to travel with cash make sure to keep it in a beltbag, or in a pouch close to your body.

The exchange

Pick up The Airport Ministro Pistarini –Ezeiza- is at 83kms from La Plata, so it is very important that once you buy your plane ticket you send us your flight’s information so that we can arrange your pick up. Once AIESEC La Plata has all the information about your flight, we will book you a bus from Manuel Tienda León, that will take you to the bus station in La Plata (placed in 4th street and 42nd) where local committee members will be waiting for you to take you to the place you will be living during your internship. The trip from Ezeiza to La Plata lasts about an hour and a half and the bus costs ARS$220, that you can also pay with dollars.

Hosting AIESEC La Plata provides four different types of hosting according to possibility. 1.- NGOs: some NGO we work with provide hosting for the exchange participant, that way you will live in the same place you will work. 2.- Hostel: there are some Hostels in the city that provide us with rooms for the exchange participants as a way to support AIESEC’s contribution to the city. 3.- Hosting Family: families that provide hosting for the exchange participant. 4.- Students: since La Plata has one of the most important universities in the country, there are plenty of students who live here and are willing to share their homes with exchange participants. *On the first day of stay in any of these hosts the trainee and a representative of the host will sign a contract that establishes some rules for a peaceful coexistence. **Food is always covered by the trainee no matter what type of hosting you are staying in.

On site IPS

The on site Incoming Preparation Seminar is the second obligatory seminar that the iGCDP team provides to the EPs when they arrive at the city. In this instance the different projects will work on planning different activities to do at the NGOs. It is very important to bear in mind, that this is in this instance where you will meet all people involve in the exchange experience and you will get to know your responsibilities and their responsibilities so that you can start working. For the onsite IPS you should make a draft planning of some activities that you would suggest to do in the NGOs for your project. The onsite IPS will take place the Sunday before your first working day.
