Welcome to the 2014 Golf Season! As you are probably aware, the great game of golf has played a critical role in the history of the Rockford Park District since 1912 when it opened Sinnissippi Golf Course. Golf is also an important part of the Gold Medal award-winning Rockford Park District, with nationally-ranked programs, courses, and facilities. You may also be aware that the golf industry in the U.S. has changed dramatically in the past 15 years after a period of tremendous growth and popularity in the 1990s. This rapid expansion provided many more options for players to choose from when deciding where to play, and has challenged golf course owners with fewer players, more competition, and everincreasing costs. To enhance our golf operations and facilities, and better meet the changing needs of our community, the Rockford Park District has undertaken an exciting, multi-year initiative to grow the game of golf. A realignment process is underway that will result in more streamlined and consistent systems at all five courses, improved customer service, and overall cost savings for our taxpayers. We have eliminated the separate management of Golf Services (Ingersoll, Elliot, Sandy Hollow, and Sinnissippi golf courses) and Aldeen Golf Club, and created a new Golf Operations team. The management of all of our golf facilities, including Alpine Hills (which will be coming on line in late 2014 or early 2015), will be under the management of this new department, and will be under the umbrella of our new brand “Golf Rockford!” There are many new and exciting changes for this season and many seasons to come. These changes include: New Director of Golf Operations Duncan Geddes, our Head Golf Professional at Aldeen Golf Club for the past 22 years, has been promoted to Director of Golf Operations. Duncan will oversee all of the District’s courses, programs, and maintenance operations.

New Director of Golf Maintenance Glenn Bereiter, Golf Course Superintendent at Aldeen for the past 17 years, will utilize his skills and talents to ensure that course conditions at all five courses and Alpine Hills will be top notch.
will be 6:00 am. Play will be restricted to those starting times to allow our maintenance staff to prepare the course properly for all our patrons. Aldeen Golf Club will continue to offer tee times beginning at 7:00 am on weekdays and 6:00 am on weekends.
On-Site Management To help raise the service level at our facilities, we will have golf professionals/managers at all of our 18-hole courses. Staff changes include: • Nancy Kauzlarich – Golf Operations Supervisor/ Manager of Sandy Hollow and Sinnissippi • Steve Moore – Director of Golf Instruction/Head Professional at Ingersoll • Jordan (Hatch) Zellman – Tournament Coordinator/Head Professional at Elliot
Social Media & Demand-Based Pricing To keep our patrons well informed, our new website golfrockford.org will provide more information on upcoming events, course conditions, and tee times, as well as special rates that will be offered based on the demand and availability of tee times at our courses. Also, our use of Facebook, Twitter, and text messaging will be better utilized to help promote these features.
Enhanced Customer Service Our new strategies and structure will focus on the total customer experience, from making it easy to book tee time reservations by phone or online, to arriving at our courses and being greeted by our customer service specialists. Tee Times – Book Online or by Phone Tee times will be accepted 7 days a week at all courses up to 7 days in advance. Two ways to book tee times: • ONLINE – visit golfrockford.org anytime 24/7 to book your tee time • BY PHONE – Call our new Golf Rockford phone line at 815-968-PLAY (7529) to reach any of our courses, book or change your tee times, or inquire about lessons, outings, or tournaments. Hours of Operation To provide better, more consistent course conditions, tee times will be available beginning at 5:30 am (weather permitting) except on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, when the first tee time

Tournament Registrations To provide a higher quality tournament experience for our players, we will be eliminating “day of” or “walk up” registration for tournaments. Entry deadlines will be changed to make it as easy as possible for players to enter events, while still allowing our tournament staff adequate time to prepare high quality events. These are just some of the many changes and improvements that our new Golf Operations Team has initiated for this season. If you have questions about any of our golf programs or facilities, please contact the Rockford Park District Golf Operations Team at 815-987-1602. We are very excited to take the next step in the long and successful history of golf in Rockford, the step towards … Golf Rockford! – JAY SANDINE Deputy Director of Operations Rockford Park District

WAIVER & RELEASE | PLEASE READ CAREFULLY | DON’T FORGET TO SIGN THE FRONT SIDE OF THIS FORM IMPORTANT INFORMATION The Rockford Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Rockford Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants’ safety. However, participants and parents/ guardians of minors registering for this program must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational programs/ activities. You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ward are physically fit and/ or adequately skilled for the activities contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity. WARNING OF RISK Golfing is an activity intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant. However, despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Risks attendant to golfing include poor conditioning or technique, being struck by a golf ball or club, being struck by lightning, slipping on wet surfaces, slips and falls associated with the choice of spikes, accidents with golf carts, inconsiderate play, horseplay, defects in course design, tripping over sprinkler heads, and ruts/holes/depressions in the grass. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Rockford Park District to guarantee absolute safety. You should
always stand away from and behind a player making a shot and be aware of the flight patterns of balls being hit by other players when you are around the greens and alongside the fairways. You should watch where you are walking (i.e., uneven terrain, sprinkler heads, surface imperfections, etc.). When playing a shot from a wrong fairway, ensure that the players playing that fairway are aware of your presence. During a thunderstorm, do not ride in golf carts or stay outdoors; seek shelter in buildings, vehicles, or other locations that offer protection (avoid open fields, water areas, wire fences, overhead wires, isolated trees, and hilltops). Drive carefully and slowly in golf carts, they are not toys. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up and participating in this program/activity, you will be expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving and releasing all claims for injuries, damages or loss which you or your minor child/ward might sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with this program/activity (including transportation services and vehicle operations, when provided). I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to participants in this program/activity, and I voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that my minor child/ward or I may sustain as a result of said participation. I further agree to waive and relinquish all claims I or my minor child/ward may have (or accrue to me or my child/ward) as a result of participating in this program/activity against the Rockford Park District, including its officials, agents, volunteers and employees.
PHOTO/VIDEO AUTHORIZATION, CONSENT AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS I hereby authorize and give my consent to the District to photograph/video me and my minor child/ward, and without limitation, to use such photographs/video in connection with promoting/advertising the services, programs, and facilities of Rockford Park District without consideration of any kind. Such productions may be copied, copyrighted, edited, and distributed by the District in the manner described above. I understand that my and my minor child’s/ward’s name, likeness, or voice may be used in the manner described above, and grant the Rockford Park District the right to use and reuse, in any manner at all, the video, motion picture, audio recording, web page, social media pages, or still photograph productions, and broadcasts as described above. I hereby waive any and all rights that my minor ward/child and I may have to examine or approve the finished product or products that contain the photograph/video of me or my minor ward/child and/or the advertising copy or printed matter that may be used in connection therewith or the use to which it may be applied. I hereby forever release and discharge the Rockford Park District from any and all claims, actions and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of said video, motion picture, audio recording, web page, social media page, or still photograph, including, without limitation, any and all claims for invasion of privacy and libel.
