Stay in shape and keep your game up to the level your coaches expect, all at an exceptional value! Registration deadline for both boys fall and girls indoor fall/winter leagues is October 4, 2013. Registration deadline for boys winter league is December 20, 2013.

Each contest will have four age divisions (3-9, 10-13, 14-17, and 18+). Youth competitors will have two runs each, with the highest score taken. Adult competitors will compete in a “jam” format in heats of four on the course at the same time. Contestants are judged on their overall impression, and awards are given after all divisions have participated. The top three in all divisions will receive an award. This isn’t your ordinary competition! We’ll have a DJ on site playing music while an MC announces all competitors’ runs with an awards ceremony to end the event.

learn to skate

T

he Learn to Skate program provides a safe and exciting experience for the beginner as well as

the more advanced skater. The program allows participants the ability to achieve the skills necessary to either skate for fun the rest of their lives, or participate competitively. We offer a variety of program options, including: lessons, skill development, performances, and competitions. Easy to Register! Our beginner, intermediate, and advanced level structure makes our system easy for parents and participants to understand. Classes are progressive, so as skills progress, participants will move on to the next level of classes. Returning skaters are placed based on previous levels completed. Bonus Lesson Time! Lessons include 30 minutes on the ice, plus 15 minutes of practice time. This is a chance for the coach to give one-on-one guidance regarding the skill focus the participant is working to improve, or for the skaters just to have fun!

About our program:

• O ur programs use the nationally recognized US Figure Skating Basic Skills Program. Each participant receives two free passes for Public Skate, or 30-minute freestyle sessions. • Classes meet once a week, and skates are provided for all levels. • The minimum class size is six skaters. We reserve the right to combine classes with fewer than two skaters. • Skaters progress at their own rate, moving on to the next level only after required elements are mastered. All levels may be repeated until the requirements are met. The Rockford Park District reserves the right to move any skater between levels. • If you need to miss your regular class, you can make it up if it is offered another time during the week. If not, you can use one of your public or freestyle session passes to practice.

Hockey pants, or breezers, are recommended, but not required. S hould participants purchase pads and hockey gloves even if they are just learning? Hockey pads and gloves are recommended, but not required. H It is recommended that participants wear sweatpants or athletic pants (shin pads go underneath them), a warm sweatshirt, and winter or hockey gloves. I f participants miss a session, can it be made up in one of the other classes? We do our best to accommodate. Simply talk to the instructor to give them a heads up! faqs Rockford Park District offers customers the budget-friendly convenience of an automated payment plan called “EZ Pay,” allowing program and activity fee payments to be spread out. For this “EZ Pay” option, you must register in person at either Customer Service location, which will allow the Park District to withdraw

When can I register? To help ensure a spot, register for your programs early. Registration is accepted one week prior to the start date, unless otherwise noted. Late registrations are accepted on a case-by-case basis by the program’s manager. For more information, contact Customer Service at 815-987-8800 or visit one of our customer service locations; we will arrange a refund as requested.

This means that in the event that a spot becomes available, you may be enrolled in the program. To be placed on a waiting list, the program registration process must be fully completed, including payment. Your position on the waiting list is based upon when the registration is processed by RPD.
