NORTHLANDS ASSOCIATION FOR SPECIAL RECREATION is a cooperative partnership between the Rockford, Freeport, and Belvidere park districts (referred to as member districts). NASR programs are open to any individual with disability-related special needs such as physical, mental, and developmental disabilities, and persons with mental illness, behavior disorders, visual, or hearing impairments. Member district residents are invited to participate in specialty/therapeutic recreation (TR) programs offered through any member district at the resident rate. Participation in inclusion services at a member district other than your own member district dictates you must pay the non-resident rate for that specific program. If you would like specific program information, please contact Belvidere and Freeport Park Districts directly.

key to symbols
The Therapeutic Recreation team’s social program provides adults (Be Social) and teens (Teens on the Town) with events to hang out with their friends. Some of the events are housed within the Rockford Park District facilities. These events include seasonal dances, karaoke nights, game nights (video and board games), movie nights, craft opportunities, and cooking programs, to name a few. When we “hit the town,” we’ll check out community sporting events (Ice Hogs, Rockford Aviators, Rock Valley College Basketball), the local museums, movies, bowling, go out to eat, check out our favorite parks for picnic fun, and of course, hang out at some of our favorite RPD spots (Forest City Queen, Magic Waters, the pools, Lockwood Park, etc.). We are also open to suggestions. So, if you’re looking to get out on the town to be social, give us a call! [PR]
RIDE
Kick back and relax, as we settle in to watch a comedy that will have everyone laughing and cheering for more! The audience will pick the movie for the evening; we will also also enjoy some great pizza, beverages, and a sweet treat!
