Rock My Wedding has become so successful due to our continuous dedication to supplying our loyal community of readers with a constant supply of beautiful imagery and ideas. The Details F
rom our first visit to Middle Stanley, our heart was set on having our ceremony outside. The setting was just incredible, and I don’t think either of us could have pictured a more perfect place to exchange vows. They say a picture speaks a thousand words – and boy do Pen and Cam fulfil that prophecy, and then some! Booking the right photographer to capture our special day was so important to us. Like many couples, Adam and I spent a good few months wondering if we actually needed our day capturing on film.
Then I read a post on Rock My Wedding – a bride talking about how much she regretted not getting a film. She spoke about never getting to see how she moved in her dress, the fun all of her guests were having that she didn’t see and how she had started to forget the words spoken at the ceremony and in the speeches. I’d seen the handywork of Lee and Dawn at Shutterbox on a few blogs and loved the mix of Super 8 and HD footage – so I contacted them just before Christmas to see if they were free. Lee and Dawn are two of the loveliest, most creative and coolest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

arlos and I met in the summer of 2010 whilst we were both living and working in Paris. Some of the happiest and most significant times of our lives were spent in the French capital so it seemed fitting that our wedding theme was focused around this special city. The wedding certainly had a strong Parisian feel that flowed throughout the day. Starting with our invitations and matching ‘favour’ shopping bags that featured illustrations of the city’s most famous landmark through to my dress made from ivory French lace. The bridal car was a vintage Citroen
2CV and was decorated in traditional wedding paraphernalia. Even our tables were named after French fashion designers. The top table, “Chanel”, was a nod to one of my most preferred Parisian couture houses. The part of the day I enjoyed most was the ceremony. We had a full catholic mass which was conducted in three languages to ensure each of our guests felt involved and engaged during the service. We walked down the aisle to the “ La valse d’Amélie” from the film of the same name.

wen and I married in West Overton in Wiltshire. The church is just a stone’s throw away from my parents’ house and is the church I was christened in and so was a very special place to all of us. The reception was held at Wellington Barn, chosen for its passion for incredible food and locally sourced suppliers.
The morning of the wedding was one of my favourite bits of the day, everyone was just so relaxed and looked beautiful. I fell in love with how light and romantic my Naomi Neoh dress felt. The lace bolero gave me the option of two very different looks. My dress was my happy place and when everything else was getting too much it was the single thing I thought of.
We married in June in the depths of the English countryside so choose flowers and decor to reflected this. I took influence from my shoes and floral headband and sprinkled glitter and flowers everywhere!
Our first dance was to Ellie Goulding’s Your Song. It was the bit neither of us were looking forward to, but after the bubbles we really didn’t notice the people watching as I tried not to step on Owen’s toes.

My (Nina!) dress was from Suzanne Neville. To jazz it up I added a Suzanne Neville crystal belt which I had sewn in as part of the dress. I didn’t want anything in my hair as felt the shoes and belt was enough sparkle so I just added a huge veil.
We looked at a number of venues in the area and we both loved Shilstone House, with its amazing views and the flexibility to create a bespoke wedding with a blank canvas to put our stamp on.
We had Devon crab for starter followed by fillet of beef with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans (basically Nina’s favourite dinner) and treacle tart and clotted cream for dessert. Following dinner we opened the ‘cocktail bar’ which was great fun and got everyone in the mood for dancing! We had Devon pasties bought out later in the evening for a little re fuel!
outh Devon was always very special to us. We used to regularly go for weekends and Stu popped the question during a weekend in a retro VW campervan whilst in Salcombe. We decided it would be the perfect place to have our wedding and was the place that meant the most to us and we love the beach!
